Title: Just Better Together
Pairing: Darwin/Alex or Alex/Darwin
Rating: PG-13 (ish)
Warning: Two guys liking each other romantically and sexually. Nevermind. Nothing that's offensive about that. Oh! And one of the sentences might involve sexswapping.
Summary: 50 words given to me by friends + The Random Word Generator. 1 sentence per word.
A/N: The idea is pretty much taken right from 1sentence , but I didn't want to do the whole community + template thing, so I just did my own with words I got from the aforementioned sources. Some of these form cohesive mini-stories, but aren't close to each other. In addition, most take place under the condition that Darwin spent a year as pure energy before returning to human form. Because fuck you he isn't dead.

1. Beer - Alex laughs and leans heavily on Darwin, draping his arms across the other mutants shoulders and pressing their mouths together with the most relaxed mood he's had in ages.
2. Vernacular - Alex calls bullshit and Darwin reaches for a dictionary just to prove it's a real word.
3. Spicy - He remembers, while guzzling a glass of water, why he and Darwin never share food.
4. Castle - Darwin looks down at the ground and shoves a stone off the battlements with a foot before he shrugs and walks away, hand brushing against Alex's on his way back.
5. Inherently - They avoid showering together mostly for Darwin's sake, since he finds growing amphibian skin during sex to be pretty awkward.
6. Catapult - When he asks Darwin if this is a good idea, the other man just smiles back and knocks his forehead against Alex's helmet.
7. Hammer - "Fuck," and he jams a finger in his mouth while Alex laughs a bit at his powers slow reaction.
8. Bruises - Darwin runs his fingers against mottled purple skin, and Alex stays still while he spends an hour running his lips across the marks.
9. Resourceful - They try to keep him locked up in a cell, but all he has to do is ram hard enough and fast enough, and the wall crumbles, and Darwin is running back to the person who needs him most.
10. Night - Sometimes he comes down to the kitchen and stumbles around in the dark before Darwin's hand catches his at the light switch.
11. Kitchen - "You're like a kid sometimes," but Darwin just shrugs, pulls the spoon out of his mug and shovels more cereal into his mouth.
12. Shirt - Alex takes one of Darwin's polos when he's out of his own shirts, and the first thing Darwin does when he sees is press him against a wall and kiss him soundly.
13. Armor - Angry red energy breaks over Darwin's plated back, and Alex realizes he found someone he can be close to.
14. Sparks - Darwin pulls himself together in Richmond, Virginia in a shower of light and thoughts about Alex.
15. Torn - And he wants to hate her, hate her because she got him killed, but she's the last thing he touched and Alex misses him so much.
16. Fair - Sometimes when he sees Alex all bandaged up, then looks at his own unblemished body, he is sure that there is a distinct lack of balance in the world.
17. Dreams - Alex wakes up from bright red flashes and explosions, and he curls in on himself and flinches when Darwin runs a hand down the middle of his back.
18. Metallic - His skin shifts from rock to metal and he isn't sure if he can hold it together, so the muscle in his arms strain as he prepares to lift his hand.
19. Forest - The advantage Alex has in their training sessions is almost unfair, since it's hard to beat someone who doesn't mind just slicing down whole yards of cover.
20. Advantage - But when he presses fingers into dark skin and runs his teeth across Darwin's collarbone, it's almost feels like he's the one responsible for starting this.
21. Regress - He's right back where he started, afraid of touching anyone without the presence of someone who he thought was invincible.
22. Dignified - It's not that they don't look like professionals when they put on a suit and tie; it's what they do with them afterwards that ruins the illusion.
23. Succulent - Darwin adapts to everything, and Alex can't help drag his eyes across newly shaped hips, lips, thighs and breasts.*
24. Incognito - Darwin runs his hand through dark hair, pushing it aside until he can see blond roots, before pressing a kiss to to Alex's scalp.
25. Inseparable - When go as a team, which is always, they act less like Darwin and Alex, and more like DarwinandAlex.
26. Sanctioned - "Bet you we can't find a registered church that will marry mutant felons."
27. Aching - Darwin's body does what it needs to keep him from dying, but aches and pains make him stronger, and Alex always laughs a little when he comes home and groans before collapsing on his bed.
28. Grumpy - "You'd be pissed too if you had to go see your cousin and tell him he's a danger you society."**
29. Adaptive - He's not with Alex because it's easy, and his mutation tries to compel him towards rebellion for what it thinks is survival, but his heart knows better and he pulls the other closer anyway.
30. Sleepy - Alex finds him 3 hours later passed out in one of the library chairs with a copy of "The War Of The Worlds".
31. Daunted - Darwin presses forward, moving their faces closer and brushing their lips together, but he stutters in the end and Alex has to pull them the rest of the way.
32. Marine - Darwin is at his most adaptive when he's in lakes, long spindly webbed fingers curled around Alex's head, mouth pressed to his and feeding him water-filtered oxygen.
33. Involuntary - "I just don't get why I have to wear a jumpsuit if I can just adapt to the conditions!"
34. Falsest - The greatest lie he was ever told was that Darwin could never get hurt.
35. Yielding - When he presses into Darwin just to test himself, it surprises him that the other is willing to give him the reigns so easily.
36. Developing - They start with a touch and end with a kiss and then they move on from there whenever Alex is ready.
37. Jumbled - "It's just-- You're not like-- I don't want to freak you out and scare you away, man."
38. Subterranean - He scrapes against the cement for hours, large claws gouging out chunks until he can reach into the cell and tap Alex on the shoulder, motioning to the escape tunnel behind him.
39. Queenly - "Yeaaaaah... How about no."
40. Melodious - Darwin can't carry a tune to save his life, but he drags Alex in front of the radio anyway, just so that he can catch up on all the music he's missed so far.
41. Stifled - They pull the covers back and Alex takes a gasping breath while Darwin smiles sheepishly as his body readjusts to the fresh air.
42. Blackened - The burns on his arm are the worst he's ever seen, and Darwin frets over him for a good half-hour afterwards.
43. Clawed - Night vision, claws and tough skin are just some of the things Darwin has when he emerges from the tunnel.
44. Antagonistic - When they fight, they scream until their throats are hoarse, but they do make up and not once have they ever used their powers on each other.
45. Undecided - He reaches towards the doorknob before pulling back, but at the same moment, Alex opens the door from the other side.
46. Punch - It's friendly in its entirety but it still ends with a broken couch and 3 weeks of chore duty.
47. Root - Xavier wants him to test his powers further, and when Alex sees him after a week, his skin is bark, his arms are branches and his leaves reach towards the sun.
48. Limit - There is only so far he can go, and Alex's powers are too much in any form when they're trapped inside, yearning for release.
49. Extend - As he rises up and away, he reaches even though he's unsubstantial and Alex swears he can feel a hand touch his face.
50. Terrifying - Darwin was never afraid of death until he had something he desperately wanted to stay for.
